Mohamed Salah is not on the list… Top 10 most expensive forwards in the English Premier League

A new statistic reveals the top 10 most expensive forwards currently in the English Premier League football competition, and it was noteworthy that it did not include the name of the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer for Liverpool.

The British newspaper “Mirror” mentioned that young Norwegian Erling Haaland, a Manchester City forward, tops the list of the most expensive forwards in the Premier League, confirming that this is not surprising compared to what the player has offered to his team in the previous season, in addition to his numbers in the new season.

Mohamed Salah is not on the list... Top 10 most expensive forwards in the English Premier League

The Football Observatory, which revealed this list, relied on several factors, most notably the players’ numbers and data, what they offered to their teams in the 2022-2023 season and the beginning of the current 2023-2024 season, in addition to their current contracts with their clubs and their current age.

Here is the list of the top 10 most expensive forwards in the English Premier League currently:

10- Gabriel Jesus – Arsenal (80 million euros)

Jesus (26 years old) joined Arsenal in the summer of 2022 from Manchester City, after winning four titles in the Premier League and three in the English FA Cup.

Despite his long absence from “The Gunners” last season due to injury, he managed to score 11 goals after his return and provided 6 assists to his teammates. He also scored once in 3 matches this season, and his contract with the team extends until the summer of 2027.

9- Alexander Isak – Newcastle United (80 million euros)

Isak (23 years old) moved from Real Sociedad to Newcastle United at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season and left a good impression at “St. James’ Park” after scoring 10 goals in 22 English Premier League matches. He also scored two goals in 4 matches in the new season, and his contract with “The Magpies” extends until the summer of 2028.

8- Moussa Diaby – Aston Villa (80 million euros)

Diaby (24 years old) arrived in the Premier League and specifically to Aston Villa in July of last year. However, he was classified as one of the most expensive forwards in the English league, especially after his impressive performance so far with 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 matches.

According to the contract between the two parties, Diaby will remain with “The Villans” until the summer of 2028.

7- Antony – Manchester United (80 million euros)

Brazilian Antony failed to convince Manchester United fans, especially after joining “Old Trafford” in the summer of 2022, as he scored only 4 goals in the previous season and has not scored in the current season.

However, his high value comes from his long-term contract, which he signed with the “Red Devils” and will expire in June 2027, in addition to his young age (23 years old).

6- Cody Gakpo – Liverpool (80 million euros)

Liverpool signed Gakpo (24 years old) in January 2023 after his impressive performance with the Netherlands national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. He was snatched by “The Reds” before Manchester United, and he earned everyone’s approval at “Anfield.”

Gakpo scored 7 goals in 21 English Premier League matches in the previous season, in addition to 3 assists. He added a new goal in the current season, and his current contract with Liverpool continues until the summer of 2028.

5- Darwin Nunez – Liverpool (100 million euros)

Another Liverpool player on this list is the young Nunez (24 years old), who is tied to a contract until the summer of 2028. He joined from Benfica in a big deal in the summer of 2022.

He contributed to the Uruguay national team with 12 goals in 29 matches (scoring 12 and assisting 3) in the previous season, and he added 2 goals and an assist in 5 matches in the new season.

4- Marcus Rashford – Manchester United (100 million euros)

Rashford (25 years old) may be the oldest forward among the names on this list, but his presence was achieved thanks to the recent contract he signed with the management, which will keep him at “Old Trafford” until the summer of 2028.

A graduate of the Manchester United academy, he scored 17 goals and provided 5 more in the Premier League in the 2022-2023 season, but so far, he has only scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist in the new season.

3- Julian Alvarez – Manchester City (100 million euros)

The young Argentine forward did not disappoint his coach Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City fans since his arrival at “Etihad” in the summer of 2022. In his first season, he scored 9 goals and provided 1 assist in the league, while in the second season, his tally increased significantly, with 2 goals and 4 assists in just the first 5 matches.

Alvarez, 23 years old and a winner of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is tied to a contract with “The Citizens” until 2028.

2- Gabriel Martinelli – Arsenal (150 million euros)

Martinelli (22 years old) joined Arsenal in the summer of 2019 and recently renewed his contract until the summer of 2027. The Brazilian forward’s level has developed with “The Gunners,” and he was close to helping them win the English Premier League last season with his 15 goals, if not for the late-season stumbles.

Martinelli has not scored yet with “The Gunners” in the new season, and he will be absent from the team for a period due to an injury suffered against Everton last Sunday.

1- Erling Haaland – Manchester City (250 million euros)

The presence of the deadly Norwegian forward at the top of this list is not surprising at all. Haaland did not stop at leading his team to win the Premier League title and securing the top scorer award but also broke the record for the most goals scored in a single season by reaching 36 goals.

Haaland, 23 years old, seems to be following the same path, as he has scored 7 goals and provided 1 assist in 5 matches so far in the new season. He is tied to Manchester City with a contract that extends until the summer of 2027.
